What Are the Symptoms of Cellulite?
Men and women both get cellulite but it’s much more prevalent in women. It’s most commonly seen on the butt and thighs. There are varying levels of cellulite symptoms. Most of us have some amount of adipose (fat) tissue that tangles with connective cords under the surface of our skin. This creates ridges under our skin that we can see. Sometimes, we have mild cellulite, and other times, it is more severe.
Facts about cellulite:
- Even very fit people can have cellulite on their bodies, although it is more common in people who carry more weight.
- Cellulite looks like dimpled or bumpy skin and is sometimes compared to the texture of orange peel or cottage cheese.
- Some people have cellulite on their breasts, stomach, hips, or arms.
- While some people consider cellulite to be unsightly, it causes no harm.

FAQs
What is cellulite?
Cellulite is a harmless condition characterized by lumpy, dimpled flesh on the thighs and butt. It can also affect the hips, abdomen, arms, and even the back, though this is much less common. The condition affects men but is more common in women. Cellulite might have a genetic component, and there are some other possible causes as well.
What causes cellulite?
The causes of cellulite: We see cellulite in areas where there is a buildup of fat underneath the skin. We all have different amounts of fat cells and varying amounts in each area of our body. Where we have a large number of cells, we may see cellulite. Some women are more predisposed to cellulite than others, and there may be a genetic component to cellulite as well. Men with cellulite will usually have it on their thighs.
Even very thin or fit people can have cellulite, but how noticeable your cellulite is will likely have to do with your body fat percentage, age, and the thickness of your skin.
How long does it take to remove cellulite using anti-cellulite treatments?
For optimal results, most of our treatment options for removing cellulite will take 6-12 sessions to see your optimal results. Effective treatment plans vary depending on how much cellulite you have, your lifestyle, and the treatment option that’s best for you. Before your first treatment, we will do a complete analysis and develop a treatment plan based on your goals, so you know exactly how many treatments we expect it to take to help you get the smooth, cellulite-free skin you want.
Does it hurt?
Our treatment options for cellulite reduction are not painful. All our treatments are non invasive and you won’t be in any pain during or after the treatment.
Anti-Cellulite Treatment Recovery Time
Our anti-cellulite treatments require no downtime. You can leave the spa and head directly back to work or other activities. You may feel a little sleepy and the treated area may look slightly red following your session, but it shouldn’t stop you from returning to your regular activities.
Aftercare
Because we offer more than one treatment for reducing the look of cellulite, it’s important to understand each one will have its own after-care procedures. At your treatment session, your aesthetician will give you complete instructions about your aftercare. Here is some helpful information.
What to do after the procedure?
- Use your anti-cellulite homecare products as described. Beautiful skin is built in your bathroom each morning and evening. The products we recommend will help you maintain and enhance the results of your treatment, and you will not have the best results without nourishing your skin at home.
- Wear sunscreen. This will give your skin an opportunity to heal without causing dryness or damage from UV rays. We recommend you wear an SPF of 30-50 every single day of your life.
- Drink plenty of water. Your body needs to wash away the destroyed fat cells and being well hydrated will help a lot!
- Continue to exercise, as increasing your metabolism will help remove more fat cells.
What Not To Do After Professional Cellulite Removal
- Don’t use harsh exfoliants or products in the treatment area.
- Don’t expose your skin to direct sunlight or use tanning beds for at least a few weeks following your treatment. Wear an SPF of 30-50 every day.
What to expect after a treatment to reduce cellulite?
You might see some reduction of cellulite immediately after your treatment, but you’ll see more results 3-4 weeks following your session. You’ll continue to see results in the days and weeks following your treatment. Your results will be cumulative, so the more consistent you are with your treatments and homecare, the better they will be.
How long does cellulite reduction last?
When fat cells are removed from the body, they are permanently destroyed. In this sense, the removal of your cellulite is permanent. However, you may still develop more cellulite if you gain weight or as you age.
Are anti-cellulite treatments safe? What are the side effects and contraindications?
