IPL Photofacial Machine

IPL Photofacial uses Venus Versa’s multi-application platform which offers three of the most popular, non-invasive technologies in the medical aesthetics industry: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) with SmartPulse, NanoFractional Radio Frequency with SmartScan and (MP)2 technology. Together, the technologies used in an IPL Photofacial provide superior results and can be used to perform the most popular, non-invasive aesthetic procedures.

IPL takes advantage of Venus’ extended safety precautions, features for added client comfortability, and technology to allow exemplary customization.

SmartPulse ensures consistent and evenly distributed heat throughout the treatment for precise IPL delivery. Real-time cooling ensures you feel comfortable and provides added safety. SmartScan lets your technician create customized patterns of Radio Frequency delivery, best suited for your specific skin.

IPL Photofacial Treatment

IPL Photofacial is a gentle, non-invasive, pain-free treatment that offers photorejuvenation for the renewal of the skin. IPL can transform blotchy, pigmented, discolored, or uneven skin and promote a calmed, uniform tone. IPL uses blue and red infrared light. Red LED light helps to clear dark spots and clarify tone. Blue LED light can control porphyrin and kill pimple-causing bacteria to reduce acne breakouts and decrease pore size. Combined, IPL helps give you a smooth, flawless look with improved skin laxity and fewer lines and wrinkles.

Here’s what you can expect from this treatment:

Anti Aging
It can help remove wrinkles and fine lines. Laugh lines, crows feet, and skin laxity can all be improved.

Pigmentation

Texture
Skin will be smooth and even and pores will be minimized.

Acne
Lessens the appearance of acne spots and scars.

FAQs

What is an IPL Photofacial treatment?

IPL Photofacial uses IPL, Radio Frequency, and Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields to help restructure and resurface the skin.

IPL combines blue and red light, delivered simultaneously. Blue light targets porphyrin which can create bacteria associated with acne. The red light helps control inflammation in the skin and improves the body’s healing response, clearing pigmentation and evening skin tone.

Radio Frequency and Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields help smooth and firm the skin.

What does an IPL Photofacial treatment look like?

Your technician will begin your treatment by thoroughly cleansing your skin. Next, IPL will be applied using a handheld device that emits pulses of light to the area that requires treatment. Radio Frequency and PEMP are also applied using separate handheld devices.

Your treatment is gentle and pain-free, and takes approximately 45 minutes.

Is IPL Photofacial safe? What are the side effects and contraindications?

IPL is very safe for those who are good candidates for treatment. Venus Concept technology has built in safety features that ensure simultaneous cooling to keep you comfortable during treatment. If you feel any discomfort, it may be as though very tiny rubber bands are snapping your skin. Each of the technologies used is FDA approved for the indicated uses and is non-invasive. Following your treatment, you may experience mild redness that should fade in a few hours.

If you experience any of these conditions, you may not be able to have IPL treatments:

  • Implants in the treatment area
  • Photosensitivity
  • Autoimmune disorders that can be triggered by light
  • Excessively tanned skin

Unfortunately, dark skin tones should avoid IPL treatments, as they can have adverse effects on the skin tone.

Who’s a good candidate for an IPL Photofacial treatment?

Anyone who would like to improve their skin tone or texture, wants to better manage acne breakouts and repair scarring, or who would like to prevent or repair aging is a good candidate for Venus Versa.

Unfortunately, dark skin tones should avoid IPL treatments, as they can have adverse effects on the skin tone.

How do you prepare?

Your results will be best if you avoid sun exposure on the treatment area for 4-6 weeks before your treatment. Be sure to use an SPF of 30-50 regularly and wear a hat and sunglasses when you’re out ‘in’s the sun.

Keep your skin as natural as possible by avoiding self-tanners and spray tans throughout your entire course of treatment.

This treatment should not be performed over tattoos, including permanent makeup.

If you can, please arrive with clean skin, free of moisturizers and makeup.

Before you complete your first session, we perform a small test spot treatment on an inconspicuous part of the treatment area. We wait to be sure your skin can tolerate the treatment without adverse effects. After the recommended time, we reassess and proceed with treatment or choose a new course of action.
For skin types I-IV — wait for 15 minutes.

For skin types V-VI — wait for 48 hours.

Aftercare

You may feel a ‘sunburnt’ sensation for up to 24 hours following your treatment. To minimize discomfort, apply cool compresses to the area as necessary. Sleep on your back with your head elevated until the pain subsides.

Some areas of your skin may appear darker in the days following your treatment. Allow these areas to slough off naturally – don’t rub or exfoliate.
It is extremely important that you protect the treated area from the sun for 4 weeks after your treatment. Use a high-quality SPF of at least 30 every single day. Wear a hat and sunglasses if you plan to be outdoors.

How soon can you see results from an IPL Photofacial?

You will begin to see results from your IPL treatment within a few days to a week of your session. Full results of your treatment will be seen after 3-4 weeks. However, to see optimal results, you may require 2-3 treatments, and touch-up treatments every 4-6 months.

Your aesthetician will advise you of your recommended treatment plan.

How long will the results last?

Optimal IPL results typically last 4-6 months and may require touch-up treatments to maintain the look.

What’s the difference between an IPL Photofacial and laser treatments?

IPL is sometimes referred to as a laser treatment, however, the two have distinct differences.

Both use light to create changes in the physiology of the skin, but the technology used to deliver the light is quite different. Lasers produce a specific type of light that consists of only one wavelength or color. Laser light is also projected in only one direction, and in a single beam. But IPL uses a range of colors and wavelengths to produce a flash of light.

In general, IPL provides excellent results for candidates without the harsh effects sometimes brought about by stronger laser treatment.
